Business Aviation Chief Sees Rough Weather Ahead

The value and importance of business aviation at Westchester County Airport was on full display at a recent NBAA regional forum.  Addressing attendees, Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino stated, “This industry is really vital to the local economy and entire area.” Annually, Westchester County Airport generates an estimated $613 million in economic activity, supporting 6,300 jobs.  While challenges remain, according to NBAA President and CEO, Ed Bolen,  “Government officials are realizing that this is an important industry.”

Miller Airpark in Berkeley Township and Lakewood Airport busy, flying in much needed supplies to areas hit hard by “Superstorm” Sandy. Private pilots have joined the efforts of AERObridge, a 501-C(3) nonprofit, filling their aircraft with donated goods and flying them to the Jersey Shore. “This is just a caring community in aviation that wants to help out,” says Jo Damato, director for the National Business Aviation Association.
